LGBTQI Parents and Friends Support group
Switchboard Victoria was established in 1991. We are a volunteer based organisation that provides a free telephone and web based counselling, information and referral service to the Victorian and Tasmanian LGBTI communities and their families and allies.
Switchboard counsellors often take calls from parents, other family members and friends of LGBTI people and those questioning their sexuality or gender identity. We believe it is important that family members are able to access support and correct information at the time they need it. We are here to help those questioning their sexuality or gender identity or their parents to start the conversations about what it means to be gay, lesbian, Bisexual, transgender and/or Intersex.
In 2016 PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Melbourne made the decision to close down their branch. In consultation with PFLAG Melbourne and in understanding the important role that PFLAG has played in the LGBTQI community, Switchboard committed to establishing a face to face support group for parents and friends of LGBTQI people.
If you are a parent or a friend of a LGBTQI person and think you could benefit from a face to face support group we want to hear from you. Switchboard is looking for expressions of interest for the support group so we can be best placed to provide a service that best meets the needs of family and friends. We want to hear from you, please complete the form below so we can stay in contact and tailor the group to address your needs.
